Representative Environmental/remediation Project List

The following are brief synopses of several completed projects that represent only a fraction of the work performed by our professionals. AGS offers services for a wide range of environmental, geological, and natural resource needs. We employ a core staff of highly qualified professionals and we can also draw on a network of affiliated expert specialists and independent consultants. The structure of AGS is such that we can provide access to a large body of diversified professional expertise, knowledge, and experience which would normally only be available through a larger consulting firm with a much higher overhead.

Airport Mobil Service Station, Territory of Guam - AGS conducted AGS conducted several Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and Groundwater Monitoring Events of the site.  Additional long-term groundwater monitoring and risk assessment is currently being conducted on the remaining waste oil contamination located in the subsurface limestone formation.  These risk assessment activities are the first to be completed for the Guam Environmental Protection Agency (GEPA) and USEPA in the Micronesian region.

Chip's Chevron, Jamestown, California - AGS removed four UST from the site. Remedial excavation activities were subsequently conducted to remove approximately 800 cubic yards of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil and install oxygen release compound (ORC®) at the site.Chips Chevron Station

Engelhard Petroleum Catalyst Manufacturing Plant Demolition and site Remediation, Salt Lake City Utah - Cherokee Environmental Risk Management issued a $3,371,000 contract to AGS to demolish, segregate, and load out for disposal and or recycling the manufacturing facility and all support buildings, warehouses and storage tanks. The project included remediation of 27 Solid Waste Management Units associated with the production facility, and stabilization of approximately 1,000,000 cubic yards of alum sludge located on 230 acres of ponds. Englehard petroleum site

French Gulch Wellington Oro Mill, Colorado - AGS conducted site and regional characterization studies in conjunction with the State of Colorado, U. S. Geological Survey, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.  The characterization studies include Surface Mine Waste Characterization, Mine Pool Characterization, Surface and Ground Water Quality studies, Continuous Ground Water Level Monitoring, Monitoring Wells, Aquifer Testing, Stable Isotope Tracer and a Salt Tracer-Injection study.

Cabras Mobil Bulkplant Terminal, Cabras Island, Territory of Guam - AGS conducted several Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and Groundwater Monitoring Events of Mobil Cabras Bulkplant Terminal.  The activities were conducted after a catastrophic typhoon fire occurred at the facility in 2004 resulting in the destruction of 4 bulk storage tanks.

Marpi Point Hydrogeology, Saipan Island, CNMI - AGS conducted extensive hydrogeologic studies for Asiana Airlines to provide 2,000,000 gallons per day of freshwater for two golf courses and a hotel and condominium complex proposed at Marpi Point, Saipan. The scope of work included: well drilling; saline aquifer profiling; extensive long term pumping test; ground water tidal fluctuation monitoring; water quality analysis; geophysical testing; hydrologic modeling; calculation of saltwater upcoming and permissible pumping rates; design of fresh water lens collection tunnel system; salt water barrier well system design; ground water recharge system.Jimtown whistle stop site

Jimtown Whistle Stop, Jamestown, California - AGS conducted Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and Groundwater Monitoring Events after a product release occurred from a gasoline UST. Fractured bedrock underlying previously dredged stream sediments complicated the groundwater flow pattern.  Approximately 7,500 cubic yards of gasoline and diesel contaminated soil and bedrock were excavated and remediated from the Site.

Phase I/II/III/IV ESA Group Portfolio Project including, 11 Service Station, 15 Dealer Sites, and 1 Terminal Facility, Territory of Guam - AGS conducted several Phase I/II/III/IV Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) of 27 facilities on the Island of Guam, concurrently.  The Phase II ESA included Gore™ Survey, and the Phase III/IV ESA included soil boring and monitoring well installation.  These Environmental Site Assessments were conducted as part of ExxonMobil International Holdings, Inc (EMIHI) due diligence regarding the sale of the sites and the ExxonMobil merger agreement.Pagan volcanic evaluation photo

Pagan Volcanic Evaluation, Pagan Island, CNMI - AGS was contracted by Pacific Ventures, Ltd. to write a geology, environmental, and construction material resource report, and a preliminary volcanic hazard report for the uninhabited island of Pagan. The island’s volcanic centers are still active with the most recent significant eruption occurring in May of 1981. This eruption produced thick deposits of volcanic ash that may provide a good source of pozzolan for the cement industry.

Marianas Cleaners, Saipan Island, CNMI - AGS conducted a soil and groundwater investigation at the dry cleaning facility after a nearby drinking water well became impacted with TCE & PCE. A groundwater treatment system was subsequently installed and to date over 40 million gallons of contaminated water have been successfully treated.
